How Is Social Media Affecting The Event Planning Industry?

Emerging trends in the Events Industry

In the past, the event planning industry was used only by the elite. Today, it is being increasingly seen as a way of eliminating headaches and hassles normally associated with events, corporate as well as private ones. According to a recent research the event planning industry is expected to grow by 20 percent from 2006 to 2016. It is no wonder that social media like Facebook and Twitter is being integrated into weddings and corporate events.

Real time updates with Social networks

The massive boom in the events planning industry can be attributed to built-in event tools of social networks. These tools are being used by wedding/corporate event planners to advertise and market their services and also give real-time updates to their followers. Social media has helped the Events planning industry cut down the cost of advertisements and has resulted in the rise in their popularity and profit.

Social media like Linked In, Facebook and Twitter has also increased the face to face interaction taking place during corporate events. The fact that attendees “Tweet” before the event means that they learn more about the number of people attending, and more importantly, who is attending the event. This has helped promote a wider homogenous interest in the events and target particular crowds.

Location based social media websites

Many corporate events planners are also tying up with Foursquare and other similar location based social media websites to create ‘badges’ to promote events. These websites are also being used to offer tips to the attendees recommending the important parts of the event, including drink or food items they should not miss! The goal of integrating social media with events in such a manner is to engage potential customers into conversation even before the event takes place.

On the other hand, corporate events at companies like Apple are extremely hush-hush. Organizers and Event planners use Twitter lists to ensure that people attending the conference are not tweeting anything that violates the company’s confidentiality policies.

Social media and the big fat wedding

Social media like Facebook and Twitter is increasingly being used to organize, plan and promote weddings: be it a small wedding or large one with over thousand guests. Irrespective of the number of attendees, a wedding planner can benefit largely due to social media. For one, it can promote as well as advertise the services of the planners and secondly the planner gets access to a larger number of resources. Wedding planners get an idea about the popular choice in wedding venues, cake bakers, DJs etc and need not even leave his/her office for this purpose. Today, a Wedding planner can literally sit in Melbourne and yet plan a wedding in Perth, thanks to such social networking!

Couples often announce their weddings on Facebook and get a list of people/RSVPs who are attending the wedding. This saves the costs on printing wedding invites and RSVP cards.

As can be seen, wedding and corporate events planners are increasingly using Twitter, Facebook and other such sites to give, receive and spread information about upcoming events.

How To Solve"this Connection Is Untrusted" Problem

Browsing on the Internet is a very enjoyable activity, log on to facebook and post some words on the wall; you may upload pictures or videos on facebook. You can also check emails every day to see the latest developments online and connect with friends via email. These are examples of your daily online activities.

A couple of weeks ago I got a problem while trying to login to my facebook account, because when I hit the login button I saw page display error “This connection is untrusted “message. Normally we can login without this problem, and this can be very annoying if you don't know how to solve it.

I have 2 Solutions for this problem:

first you can try these steps:

1. when you get “This connection is untrusted “message, click on “I Understand the Risks”.

2. And then click ‘add exception’ button.

3. Then you will see new windows.  Click on ‘get Certificate’.

4. After few seconds, click on ‘Confirm Security Exception’ and then the page will beloading normally and you now can login to facebook.

This is the simple way to solve this problem but it’s not a permanent solution, because when you login again we will have to repeat the same process from step 1 to step 5.

I tried to find the reason why “This connection is untrusted” message appears, because on another PC the same process is fine. I can login normally to facebook. Finally I found the reason; the problem was time at your computer which didn’t match with your local time. I guess this is the reason that ‘this connection is untrusted’ message appears when I try login to facebook.

This case is not only with facebook, but also with other websites that use https like yahoo, BlogSpot and many other websites.

Try this second method to fix this problem.

Match you computer time with your local time.
To do this go to control panel --->then choose date and time, change the time. Sometimes in few cases you cannot reset time and date. You will get message "you don't have privilege to change the time of your system"

If so happens, go to start menu ==> run=== >then type gpedit.msc and then follow these steps:

Local Computer Policy | Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security
Settings | Local Policies | User Rights Assignment

Then click on “change system time”. The default authorization is for power users and Administrators. If it is still blank, click on “add user/group”, then click the “advance tab”, and then “Find now” , choose user administrator.

Restart you pc and you can easily reset your computer time now.

Another way is to replace the motherboard CMOS battery; because if the battery is weak, the time setting on the computer itself will change, thus causing the "This is untrusted connection" error appear while opening certain websites.
This mode is the best way to address the issue. Sometimes it's a virus that can cause this issue, but most likely it’s the CMOS battery that gets weak and changes the time setting. I guarantee an error "This is untrusted connection" will not appear again if you've done the steps as mentioned above.

Are You Leaving A “cookie Trail” On The Net?

Are you leaving a “cookie trail” on the net?

The answer is most probably yes. Many people enjoy the feeling of being anonymous when browsing the web, but websites are getting smarter and in some ways sneakier when documenting and tracking online user and browsing information.

Personalised User Details:
Online advertisers might know more about you than you would like them to know. Targeted user-driven advertising is proving to be lucrative form of online marketing. Online security researchers have shown that when you enter your real identity on one website, it becomes easier to identify you when you are entering another website on the Internet.

Nowadays most websites and especially social networking sites require users to provide their personal details when completing the registration process. Users are no longer allowed to use Pseudonyms and sites like Facebook will even go so far as to block users who are suspected of using pseudonyms. Most popular social networking sites offer free site registration and usage but there is a price-your personal information.

Sharing information through Interlinking:
Facebook recently expanded their ability to track their online users by adding ‘like’ icons to various sites on the web. This gives Facebook users insight into the browsing habits and site preferences of their Facebook friends. Other social networking sites are also finding ways of interlinking various accounts and streamlining information from multiple accounts. Facebook gives users the ability to link their Twitter profile with their Facebook profile so that a singular post on your Facebook page will simultaneously appear on your Twitter page. This ‘interlinking’ strategy is one way in which sites can exercise greater control over their users while targeting advertisements more effectively.

But how exactly do websites do this? Well ‘cookies’ are one way in which user information can be tracked. Cookies are temporary files, which save and track user information from your browser. They are snippets of data that websites deposit on visitors’ computers so that returning visitor activity can be measured and recognized. Cookies enable companies to track movement on the Internet and reveal things about the user’s browsing habits.

What about user privacy?
In 2010, privacy experts discovered that a certain social networking site was sending information about its users to advertisers who also track user browsing through cookies. The site corrected this privacy leak but only after the issue received ample media exposure. Many companies are now able to track people as they move around the web and capture browsing histories.

This raises the question of whether or not the online custodians of user information will be responsible and discreet with the information they are entrusted with. We could  see a change in browsing habits when people realize that they do not have the level of browsing autonomy they once thought they had.

Understanding The Facebook Hiring Process

A lot of people desire to be employed at Facebook and pursue the profession within their dreams. But, a great number of job applicants suppose that the hiring process at Facebook is a bit of a maze through which they tend to have to navigate.

Actually, it's on no account a maze. It's simply a blend of conventional and unconventional techniques, counting on which department you're applying to. And, as you might expect by a company which also contemplates itself as a 'start up' operation, there appears to be a little bit of chaos in the hiring system.

That is, you could be faced with a highly professional interviewer while, in a different situation, you might receive a last-minute replacement interviewer who has no real interest in the actual procedure. Needless to say, this could easily become a bit frustrating to a job applicant.

However, inside the confusion, there's a definite employment process in position that allows you to navigate the interview and hiring waters safely. We describe that process below with information straight from the mouths of current and former Facebook employees. And you'll be able to apply it no matter what line of work you're curious about - Web marketing, Internet Security, tech writer, sysadmin, customer support, software developer, etc.

The Facebook Job Application/Hiring Process

In regard to overall Facebook career hiring procedure, one applicant perhaps put it best: 'Expect to whiteboard, present case studies and show top notch qualifications.'

Here's the final process:
Phone interview(s) - this, without a doubt, is to screen you in or out being a candidate.
First on-site interview - this is to try out your knowledge, skills, and talent at the deeper level.
Second on-site interview - this is often to determine your personality and fit with Facebook. They definitely have to see a terrific linking to their culture.
Third on-site interview - they describe the specifics of your position and give a tour of their office.
Follow-up call - If they're very interested in you, they can often reach out to you in just a day and ask for to verify references.
Offer is made.

However, as stated before, this procedure may vary from department to department and may not happen in such a straight-forward fashion.

If there's one central principle to remember while in the Facebook interviewing and hiring process, it's this: Be ready to offer a look at your know-how and abilities! This is often the case with several different businesses, obviously, but Facebook puts a certain emphasis on it.

So what would they ask? Here are a few examples of questions for you:
Account Manager: 'Every company like ours has a value proposition due to its advertisers. What's Facebook's value proposition to our advertisers?'
User Operations Analyst: 'Which elements of Facebook are you use the most and why?'
Internet Marketing Analyst: 'What were you aware of about Facebook's unique selling proposition?'
Software Engineer: 'Given a Binary Search Tree, iterate over the elements without needing recursion.'
Research Scientist: 'Why don't you generate a part of code that finds anagrams?'
Product Manager: 'What didn't you think of XYZ company?'
Online Sales Operations: 'What new features will you add that should benefit both Facebook users and advertisers?'

How To Give A Hug Using Facebook Winks

Facebook has already impacted dating and relationships, allowing people to develop new romances or maintain intimacy. One of the most common occurrences on Facebook is flirting.

There are many ways of flirting online, but why not do it as a fun and in a more exciting manner. Now becoming a popular way of flirting online is through use of winks emoticons. Used originally to express feelings and sentiments, they have evolved into a stylized way of flirting online. Why not send a hug wink to suggest romance?

A hug is a gesture used to show one’s affection. For lovers, they are taken to mean as gestures of love, romance, or intimacy. For family and friends, hugs are given to show support or solidarity. If you want to comfort someone, you also give them a hug. They can also provide warmth to the receiver. Remember the last time you received a hug from someone? Didn’t you feel better?

A hug is a physical act achieved by wrapping one’s arms around another person’s body. Often, the act is also reciprocated by the receiver. This gesture, however, is impossible to act over Facebook. So what do you when you want to comfort someone but words are not enough? How do you give someone a hug on Facebook?

Fortunately, you can send a virtual hug when your friend needs support or you want to get intimate with your girlfriend using Facebook winks. Now virtual hugs are not as cuddly as the real thing. Still, they’re much more fun, more visual, and more exciting than writing out “I’m hugging you” in the message.

While Facebook doesn’t have default winks emoticons, the site does allow third-party wink apps from other sites. Usually you will be required to download winks app or software. Some software are said to contain viruses, while some do not offer a good variety of winks. Some Facebook wink apps support Facebook chat only, while some allow you to post winks on your wall or Status Update as well. Of course you would want an application that gives you greater flexibility. A little research is essential to getting the best wink app for Facebook.

After you have downloaded the application, a toolbar may be added to your Facebook account. To send a hug while chatting, click on the toolbar to display the menu content. Find and click on the hug wink.

Maintaining Relationship on Facebook Using Hug Winks

Some couples use wink emoticons to replace gestures of romance like hugs and kisses. With wink emoticons, romantic messages are more emphasized and expressed more clearly, more visually.
Hugs can mean one thing or another depending on whom you are bestowing the gesture and for what purpose you are giving it. With Facebook winks, you can give friendly hugs, cute hugs, bear hugs, group hugs, or even romantic cuddles.

With Facebook winks, maintaining relationships surely comes fun and easy.
